While in travel, Payment in Nepal must always be made in Nepalese Rupees which can be bought at Foreign Currency Exchange Counters authorized by Nepal Rashtra Bank (State Bank of Nepal) upon presentation of the passport. Only Indian visitors are allowed to bring in and use their currency. There is no restriction on bringing hard currencies including Traveller’s Cheques. Visitors are required to fill in the Currency Declaration from at the port of entry. You can change your currency with Nepalese Rupees directly in Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu, Banks, permitted Hotels and other authorized counters with in different parts of Nepal.
