Photography, Art and Designing are the three things that are always connected with each other. It is always better to learn the basics of art and photography before going for a design.
Art & Photography
Art depends upon the imaginary feelings that we have inside our mind and expressing our inner feelings through out the combination of various colours is an art. Art is not there where machines and mathematical formulas are used. The works done by mathematical formulas and machines are the works of our brain it is not suitable to take it as an art. Decoration and designing is an art but calculating a mathematical equation or the data statically through out the scientific calculator is not, similarly painting and drawing is an art but photography is not. If a painter paints a house and doors simply that's not an art but if he paints his feelings of design and decoration with the combination of colours that will surely be an art. Similarly playing music, dancing, decorating, making sculptures are different forms of art and capturing those images full of art within the camera is photography. So that is how art and photography differs with each other.

Before going for the camera you yourself have to decide which sort of photography that you’re going to do with. Digital-SLR are most commonly used by the professional photographers and some other point and shoot cameras also provides multiple functions like in Digital -SLR + Compact (Both) in 1 like Canon Powershot G10, 11 , Canon Powershot SX10 & SX1 IS are used by designers and travel photographers, among them G10 & 11 offers 5x and SX 10 & 1 offers 20x zooming range. Among these compact cameras I like my Canon Power shot G10, I been using the camera for my designs and for some photography too. There are actually two types of sensors within these cameras CCD sensor and CMOS sensor CCD sensors are superior then CMOS sensors but CMOS sensors consumes less amount of battery power then CCD. Image qualities differs by a bit with CCD and CMOS sensor.

One thing which may be said about Nepalese craftsmanship is that Newars of Kathmandu Valley had developed very high standard of religious art which can be seen in temple and sculptural architecture. No where else is the mastery more perceptible. To wit, the bronze statues symbolize religion, mystic abstruse to the average outsider. The impression we find with the objects maid in ancient time differs from an Indian and Tibetan art. Art critics down the years have repeatedly said most of the images of Gods have an element of grotesque, the unreal and somewhat exuding terror. They are mystic, watchful and do appear unkind to the worshipper. As may be seen, the images are out of proportion in execution and show a co-existence of human and animal forms. Images with fear exuding pair of eyes not only appear unkind, they appear as if they are about to strike the worshipper. Also there are images of Gods and Goddesses which are too vividly and grossly depicted in sexual intimacy. There is still more aspect of the art if we consider the images which are threatening in the very appearance. They are so very expressive of the bliss in sexual union and ethereal joy that one cannot look at them long in others’ presence; object makes the observer have strange feelings. Not only are the images, even the temples very in style, along with this, there another particular feature in the temple-complex of Nepal. The Duarpals or the deity guards at the portals of the temples are usually very fierce with the fearful looks. The terrifying Gods that tear the body of the demons or the infidels keep watch at the entry to the holy places and worshipper with impure spirit cannot go near. Sea-lions and other animals are among more sophisticated guards. The Swayambhunath stupa with all-seeing eyes keeps an endless watch over the Kathmandu valley with blessings; none have denied this in the religious circle.

Therefore most of the precious stones are imported from Bangkok, India and other countries. Refractive index measurements of these gems are suggested. The beads locally known as Pote are found in different colours and designs and are inexpensive. Earrings, necklaces or belts are made of these beads but the most common demand remains that of necklace. The necklace if red in colour signifies that the women wearing it are married especially if it carries a gold pendant called tilary with it.

Thangkas are religious paintings made on cotton canvas or silk. Buddhist lamas originally used these paintings in ceremonies while addressing the various deities and figures on the canvas. The traditional method of producing Thangka imbibes the mixing of ground stones, resins and jarma, a kind of gum that ensures the durability of colours. Resins are derived from mixing of jarma with boiled leaves. Thangkas made from natural base colours are the ones in demand. They fetch more prices especially the ones done in gold. To make it short, the price of these paintings depends on size, expertise and paint used while creating it. Buddha, Tara (Goddess of peace), Manjushree (God of Wisdom), Bajrashakya (God of forgiveness), Chingreshi (God of Compassion), Mahakal (God of protection) are some of the statues and statuettes that can be largely seen in Nepali curio shops, Price depends on the artiest, quality and the metal used while creating it.
