Before going for the camera you yourself have to decide which sort of photography that you’re going to do with. Digital-SLR are most commonly used by the professional photographers and some other point and shoot cameras also provides multiple functions like in Digital -SLR + Compact (Both) in 1 like Canon Powershot G10, 11 , Canon Powershot SX10 & SX1 IS are used by designers and travel photographers, among them G10 & 11 offers 5x and SX 10 & 1 offers 20x zooming range. These compact cameras offers multiple shooting functions ,both image and video plus sound recording as well. Image quality are as good as we have with Digital SLRs. Among these compact cameras I like my Canon Power shot G10, I been using the camera for my designs and for some photography too. There are actually two types of sensors within these cameras CCD sensor and CMOS sensor CCD sensors are superior then CMOS sensors but CMOS sensors consumes less amount of battery power then CCD. Image qualities differs by a bit with CCD and CMOS sensor.If you do professional photography then Digital SLR will be better for you, it offers you to choose different sort of lenses from wide angle to telephoto shooting. We can easily change the lens as we require them. While choosing the lens its always better to choose the lens covering the average distance like 24-105 mm, 18 – 200mm or more because it covers the average distance for photography and you wont have a problem with changing the lens in hurry, like in different wide to tele photographic conditions. Some digital SLR don't have sound and video recording modes so you have to check that out if you require those modes too.The price for the above mentioned Cameras, it comes within 350 to 525 $ .
